Hidden infections are a massive cause of chronic disease in our world today, and the medical system is not set up for managing this. Many hidden infections produce vague and non-specific symptoms that can go undiagnosed for years or decades, leading to simple palliative treatment.⠀

The first step in this, is understanding exposure.⠀

…⠀
“It’s parasites. And it’s common as well as troubling. Here is what we know 👉🏽.⠀
.⠀
.⠀
🐟 A 2011 study by Karl et al., found that ALL of the 3 types of wild caught salmon from different bodies of water were infested with worms and 90% had them in the edible parts 😳. Alaska is a major distributor of wild caught salmon in the US. Similar numbers by Skov et. al, were seen in Denmark.⠀
.⠀
.⠀
🐟Other larger sample studies out or Korea (Choi et al.) and Italy (Casti et al.) studied a wider variety of fish and found 34% and 40% infection rates respectively.⠀
.⠀
.⠀
🐟 Here is the problem: Parasites are killed if frozen at -4°F for AT LEAST 7 days. Conversely, they die at an internal temperature of 145°F BUT fish begins to shrink, dry and over cook past 130°F. The ideal cooking temperature for texture is 120°F – 130°F. Dry and killed or succulent and risky is the choice. .⠀
.⠀
🍣 My next point: Sushi is a MAJOR RISK for infection. Especially if you are not 100% positive of the sourcing. Only 50% – 60% of sushi is frozen in the US. I do not think anyone should be eating raw fish. .⠀
.⠀
🐟There has been an increase in fish parasites and it is believed to be due to global warming’s effect on the ocean’s temp🌎 🔥.⠀
.⠀
.⠀
🐟The proposed solution is eating more farm raised fish. That’s a new can of…worms. Now we talk GMOs, antibiotics, and other toxins in the feed and flesh. Some of the most toxic foods around are farm raised fish. I do not know of any high quality fish farms, or if they even exist.⠀
.⠀
.⠀
🐟Solution: I would not eat sushi. I would not touch farmed fish 🐟. If you choose to eat fish, it seems like wild caught is the best bet. It MUST be frozen over 7 days and it MUST be cooked thoroughly to kill worms and be safe… Still you may be
