Words of Wisdom: Are you taking in enough of the proper nutrients after a workout? This is called post workout nutrition or “the window of gainz”. Essentially exercising (whatever form it may be) uses carbohydrates for energy, and so the muscle carbohydrates are depleted. So this is why this period after you workout “the window of gainz” is so important. Think carbohydrates to refill your muscle carbohydrate and your energy stores. So when do I add in protein coach Al? Muscle protein is also depleted during exercise. All in all your “window of gainz” opportunity should be a protein shake with some carbohydrates adding in. It doesn’t have to be in the form of liquid, you can also eat your protein and carbohydrates in solid forms.
